Apparel Truckloads

So what's on an apparel truckload? Clothing across the board. Tops, jeans, dresses, jackets, activewear, underwear, socks, plus kids' and baby clothing.

Most is end-of-season overstock and returns. Ranges get cleared when the season turns, and online returns pile up fast in clothing.

Why apparel works at volume

Unit counts are enormous. A truckload might hold twenty or thirty thousand pieces, which drops the per-item cost right down.

Clothing sells everywhere too. Market stalls, car boots, online, charity shops, export buyers. Plenty of routes to move it.

It's light for its bulk as well, so freight costs less per unit than furniture or appliances.

The bits that decide your profit

Size spread is everything. Returns skew hard to the extremes, so you can end up with mountains of XS and XXL and nothing wearable in the middle.

Ask about the ratio before committing. Sellers who won't tell you usually know why.

Season matters just as much. A truckload of summer dresses arriving in October means holding stock for eight months.

Sorting is a serious job at this scale. Reckon days of labour, not hours, and budget for it properly.

What to check

Condition split between new-with-tags, shelf pulls, and returns. Those are three different products.

Look for wear on returns, since some come back after real use rather than a try-on.

Check for damp. Clothing stored badly picks up mildew, and that ruins entire loads.

Watch for security tags left on, which is more common than you'd think.

And check for counterfeits if branded stock is involved.

Practical stuff

You need proper space. Twenty thousand garments takes a unit, not a garage.

A dock or forklift for delivery, same as any truckload.

Where you buy it

You've seen the threads. Someone commits thousands to an apparel load and it's all odd sizes and last-summer stock.

Buying through an actual distributor takes most of that out. You get told the size spread, the season, the condition split, and where it came from. Freight booked properly. Someone real answering.
