Seasonal Truckloads

So what's on a seasonal truckload? Whatever's just gone out of season. Christmas decorations, Halloween stock, garden furniture, summer toys, Easter goods, back-to-school. Depends entirely when it ships.

Retailers clear this stuff fast. Shelf space is worth more than the stock once the date passes, so it moves in bulk quickly.

Why seasonal works differently

The timing is the whole business model. You buy at the worst possible moment and sell eleven months later at the best one.

Christmas stock in January costs almost nothing. The same stock in November sells at proper money. That gap is your margin.

It means holding inventory though. You're paying for storage across most of a year, and that has to be in your numbers.

Who buys at this level

Established operations with warehouse space. Discount shops, garden centres, market traders running multiple pitches, and wholesalers supplying smaller sellers.

A truckload is roughly 20 to 26 pallets. Full trailer, not a few pallets on a pickup.

You need a dock or a forklift. Trucks turning up with no way to unload is the most common thing that goes wrong.

The maths that matters

Cost per unit, not per truck. Then add storage cost across however many months you're holding it.

Sorting takes days at this volume, not hours. Budget the labour honestly.

Expect a percentage you can't sell, especially with decorations that get knocked about.

What to ask before committing

Which season the load actually is, and what year it was produced.

Whether there's a manifest. Both answers are fine, you just need to know.

Condition split, and how much is sealed versus returned.

Freight terms, who pays, and delivery access at your end.

Where you buy it

You've seen the threads. Someone commits thousands to a seasonal load and it's broken decorations and nothing sellable.

Buying through an actual distributor takes most of that out. You get told what's in the load, where it came from, and what condition to expect. Freight booked properly. Someone real on the phone.

That's it from us. We say what we've got, ship it, and you work out if the numbers add up.
