What holds value and what doesn't
Pre-lit trees carry the highest values and sell fastest. Also the most likely to have faults.
Large trees, 7ft and up, sell better than small ones. Bigger margin too.
Plain baubles and generic decor hold value indefinitely, since they never date.
Themed and licensed decor dates fast. Last year's character range may be worthless.
Ask for the split, since it changes what a load is worth.
What to check
Test every string on pre-lit trees. One dead section makes the whole tree unsellable, and they're not easily repaired.
Check branch count and hinge condition, since bent hinges are common.
Confirm stands are present, as they go missing constantly.
Check boxes, since trees need their original packaging to store and ship.
Look for crushing on bauble boxes, which breaks glass ones.
Check safety marks on lights, which is a legal requirement.
Practical stuff
Enormously bulky. Trees take more space than almost any other liquidation product.
Ten months of dry storage, so factor the warehouse cost properly.
Where you buy it
You've seen the threads. Someone buys Christmas stock and the pre-lit trees are all dead.
