Look for swelling on any pack. A bulging battery is a fire risk and shouldn't be sold or stored.

Confirm batteries and chargers are present, since both go missing and both hit value hard.

Watch for counterfeits, especially batteries, which are widely faked across all the big brands.

Check plugs if you're in the UK, since some stock arrives with European fittings.

Understanding condition grades

Untested returns cost least and fail most. Suits anyone who can test and repair.

Tested and graded costs more but lists straight away. Better if you haven't got a bench.

Know which you're buying before you commit.

Where you buy it
