Why single pallets suit smaller sellers
You don't need a warehouse. One pallet fits in a garage, which matters if you're starting out.
No forklift needed either, unlike truckloads. Most kerbside deliveries can be handled with a pallet truck or by hand.
The mix is broad too. Kids', mens, womens all in one load, so you're not tied to one buyer type.
Car boot sellers do well with these. So do market traders and people selling locally on Marketplace.
The bit that decides your profit
Size spread, always. Returns skew to the extremes, so ask about the ratio before you commit.
Kids' shoes are the exception worth knowing. They sell fast in every size, because feet keep growing.
What to check
Confirm pairs match, since odd shoes turn up more than you'd think.
Look at soles for real wear, not just try-on marks.
Check insoles are present, as they go astray on returns.
Box condition matters for trainers, less so for everything else.
Watch for security tags left on, which happens regularly.
And check for counterfeits if branded stock is in the load.
Practical stuff
Shoe boxes are bulky, so one pallet takes more space than the weight suggests.
Storage needs to be dry, since leather and fabric both suffer in damp.
Where you buy it
You've seen the threads. Someone pays for a shoe pallet and it's odd sizes and worn returns.
